Anita Arlene Chancellor, age 79, of West Columbia, Texas, passed away Wednesday morning, April 9, 2025, at her residence. She was born on December 31, 1945, in Liberty County, a daughter of the late Luther Marce and Lottie Elizabeth Leftrick.

Arlene is survived by her best friend and husband of 61years, Johnny Joe Chancellor, two sons; Ernest Kelton Chancellor (wife Joyce) of Elkhart, Indiana and John Randall Chancellor of Vancouver, Washington; daughter-in-law Traci Henigan (husband Arron) of Benton, Arkansas; Grandchildren Mykel, Joseph (wife Lexie), Mckenzie, Buddy, Raney (husband Chris), Buster (wife Myranda), Michael (wife Grace), Joey; Great Grandchildren Lyndsey, Coda, Arya, and Aela. Arlene leaves behind her two sisters with whom she was very close and talked with daily, Maurice Whiddon (husband Billy Ray) and Rhonda Payne. She was loved by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many lifelong friends, and her church family.

Arlene was preceded in death by her firstborn son, Joe Wayne Chancellor; by her grandson, Josh Cruz; and by her baby brother, Larry Marce Leftrick.

Arlene and Johnny started their life together in Liberty, Texas over 61 years ago. Soon after getting married, they settled down in West Columbia to raise their three boys and called The Lighthouse Church their home church. Arlene was actively involved throughout the years in her church by participating in rummage sales, walk-a-thons, reading the Bible through each year, youth events, making peanut brittle, teaching Sunday School, fundraising, and being willing to help wherever she was needed.

In recent years, Arlene’s favorite thing was being with her best friend, Johnny Joe, and going on day trips. Arlene and Johnny spent many days taking the boys on vacations in the hill country with family and friends. She loved taking the back roads and seeing the beautiful scenery of Texas. Her favorite vacation spots were Wimberley, Dam B and Brazos Bend State Park.

Arlene had the biggest, kindest heart. She was loved by so many. Arlene held many different titles throughout her life; she was Aunt Neen, Sister Chancellor, Grandma, Sister, Friend, and Mom. She leaves behind many people who love her and will miss her.

Visitation is Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at The Lighthouse Church in West Columbia from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, immediately followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Danny Johnson and Brother Mike Brister officiating.
