Arthur Pate

Arthur "Ernest" Pate, 92 of Sweeny, Texas passed away July 29, 2017 in Bay City, Texas. He was born May 5, 1925 in Marion, Louisiana to Robert Arthur and Lillie Belle (Littles) Pate. He served in the United States Navy during WWII, starting out working in the oilfield working his way into Amoco as an operator before retiring. He loved going camping, deer hunting and John Wayne movies. He was also a member of Sweeny-Old Ocean Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Sweeny with pastor John Price officiating. Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior to service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Pate, Adam Pate, Kenny Pate, James Lingo, Calvin Cole, Randy Stanger, Ralph Cole, Ricky Cole and Joey Lavender. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Cole, Marshall Finley, Norman Finley, Johnny Finley, Kenneth Finley and J.D. Minze.

Ernest is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frankie Cole Pate; 3 children, Gary Wayne Pate and wife, Jane; Patricia Leopold and husband, Nelson and Robert Cole Pate and wife, Tricia; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Lee Lingo and brother-in-law, Jack Cole.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Joe Lingo, Jr. brother-in-law, Louis Cole and wife, Elsie, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stanger and Dorothy Cole.
