Bennie Thompson, 71 of Damon, Texas passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Houston. He was born October 7, 1944 in Taylor, Arkansas to Harold Willard and Hattie Marie (Hall) Thompson. He loved to hunt and was a longtime car sales manager at Carroll Ford; but was well known for his orange trees.
Memorial services will be held 11:00am, Friday, March 11, 2016 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia with Pastor Ernie Hutchings officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Baker, T.C. Morrow, Jim Singleton, Bubba Munson, Clifford Cater and Jeff Barber.
Bennie is survived by wife, Debby Thompson of West Columbia; daughter, Dena Benton of Needville; brothers, Dale Thompson, Billy Wayne Thompson, Roger Thompson and Dexter Thompson; sisters, Maxine Bailey, Virginia Ridgeway; step-son, Scott Laird and wife, Stephanie; special aunt, Dorothy Moore; along with 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harold, James, Ray, and Gerald Thompson; sisters, Eva and Nadine; and step-son, Kevin Nettles.
