Billy Wleczyk

August 23, 1940 — January 30, 2018

Billy Joe Wleczyk, 77 of Damon, passed away doing what he loved. He was born on August 23, 1940 to Joe and Helen Wleczyk in Damon, Texas. He graduated from West Columbia High School in 1958. After graduating, he worked for two weeks on an oil rig and quickly decided it was not for him. It was too dirty! Billy Joe worked for Rainbow and Mrs. Baird's for over 50 years combined. He loved working in the hay field, cutting and baling hay. Billy Joe was happiest when he was driving one of his tractors. He never met a stranger and loved to visit with his family and friends.

Billy Joe loved going to Louisiana and play the slot machines. He was very proud of his heritage and loved listening to Cajun and Bohemian music and was an excellent dancer and vocalist. Billy Joe was loved by so many people and loved his many friends and neighbors. He was very giving and caring. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. Billy Joe was an extremely hard working and intelligent man and expected everyone to work as hard as he did. He even received the Citizen of the Year award by the West Columbia Fire Department.
