Brenda Ann Sweeny

Brenda Ann Sweeny, nee Gaines, a beloved member of the Sweeny community, passed away on August 12, 2024 in Sweeny, TX. She was born on January 27, 1967, in Louisville, KY, to the late Willard Bailey Gaines, Jr. and Betty (Gill) Gaines. 

Brenda Ann Sweeny, known for her vibrant spirit and kind heart, will be dearly missed by her surviving family members. She is survived by her husband of  27 years, Melvin 'Peanut' Sweeny, Jr., her children Paul Barrett, Jr. (Amanda) and Christal Sweeny, as well as her grandchildren Bailey Taylor, Payton Barrett, Ray Ann Tatum, Gavin Barrett, and Cade Barrett. Also left to cherish her memory is her sister Rebecca Reynolds and Peanut's husband-in-law Paul Barrett, Sr.  Brenda is also remembered fondly by her many nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends.  Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother David Gaines.

During her lifetime, Brenda found joy in various hobbies and interests. She loved to tend to her vegetable and flower gardens, create crafts, engage in lively games of Bingo, and had a special fondness for playing the slot machines in local game rooms.

The services honoring Brenda Ann Sweeny will be held at the C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home - West Columbia, located at 634 S Columbia Dr, West Columbia, TX 77486. Visitation will take place on August 19, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. The interment will be held at the Sweeny Cemetery, Old Main St, Sweeny, TX 77480.

Brenda's departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit and memory will be cherished forever by her family, friends, and the community she touched with her warm presence and generous nature. May she rest in peace.
