 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cecil Joseph Polk, of Houston, Texas, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 24, 1946, he lived a life defined by resilience, determination and self-reliance.

 As a young man, Cecil answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the Army during the Vietnam Era where he met the love of his life, Helen Graven, whom he was lucky enough to be married to for over twenty years.

 As a father and grandfather, Cecil was not one to offer affection freely, but his sense of responsibility to his family was clear. He believed in hard work, perseverance, and living life on his own terms, lessons that he imparted to those around him. His stern demeanor may have made it difficult for some to get close, but beneath it all was a man who cared deeply, even if he didn’t always show it in the ways others expected.

 He is survived by his children, Charles J. Polk, Terrhan G. McCrosky, and Cory J. Polk as well as their children.

 He was a man who loved his family, was an avid hunter, an entrepreneur and a good friend. He lived a full life, and he will be remembered for his tough demeanor, hard work and self-reliance, values he passed on to his family. Cecil will be remembered for his grit, conviction and dedication to those he loved.

 Visitation will be held from 10:30am-12:30pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at C.T, Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas. Immediately following will be a graveside service at the Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest cemetery.
