C.W. Kalischko

December 18, 1925 — January 11, 2016

C.W. "Boots" Kalischko (Pop), 90 of Brazoria, Texas passed from this earth at 5:40am, Monday, January 11, 2016. He was born December 18, 1925 in Moulton, Texas. He was the son of Edward and Marie Kalischko, he joined the Navy in 1943 to fight in WWII; was stationed on the ship U.S.S. Latimer APA 152, a troop transport ship. He earned three medal stars and three ribbons. In 1946 he was honorably discharged from the Navy and moved to Freeport, Texas where he started a career at Dow Chemical. He retired in 1980 after 30 plus years of service as a crew leader for Dow in the Mag cells. He was a member of local 564 operating engineers and the V.F. W.; a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brazoria. He enjoyed playing dominoes and pente. He worked hard and played hard.

Boots loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, going to the beach and raising deer and other wildlife. He loved to ride his tractor from sun up to sun down, mowing, knocking down trees or maybe it was just to get that golden tan. He was a hardworking Christian man of Integrity; making many deals based on a handshake and loved everyone who crossed his path. He had many friends and was very well known in the community. The friends he made became more like family; he loved them like they were his own. He could endure more pain than anyone we ever knew could and made it to his 90th birthday, which was something he was very proud of. We are grateful for the memories that were made and all the detailed stories that were told. Although it's hard to say our goodbye's here on earth, this isn't goodbye forever, but until we meet again. We are grateful to say with true confidence he is no longer in pain. He is now walking in heaven with beautiful angel wings. Our hearts are broken by our loss, yet comforted by his gain. Roman 14:7-9, For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

Boots is survived by his adoring wife of 67 years and true soul-mate, Irene Helen Kloesel Kalischko, they married October 18th 1948. His memory is instilled in his 6 children; son, Danny Kalischko and wife, Deborah of Angleton; daughter, Constance Rankin and husband, Mark of Seguin; daughter, Deborah Dumas and husband, Preston of Houston; son, James (Bimbo) Kalischko and wife, Denise of Brazoria; daughter, DeDe Smith and husband, Lane of Lake Jackson; and son, Tiger Kalischko and fiancé, Phyllis Crocker Tidwell of Richwood. He was blessed with 25 grandchildren that were each given a special nickname especially chosen by Pop; and 25 great-grandchildren with one on the way. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly; they were the highlight of his day when anyone of them stopped by for a short story and a hug. It brought great joy to him and filled his heart with so much love. He was also survived by his loving sister, Marilyn Rosenauer of Houston.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Marie Kalischko, brother, Edwin Kalischko, and sister, Rosalie Kubicek.
