Dan met the love of his life Donna Pearl Hobbins in his home town of Pledger Texas. They exchanged marriage vows on August 2, 1943 while Dan was on leave from his service during WWII. He served from September 10, 1942 to October 5, 1945 in Germany in the Army Air Corps and was an airplane and engine mechanic, performing maintenance and repair work on army aircraft. After the war was over Dan and Pearl made their home in Oyster Creek Texas and Dan worked for Dow Chemical. In the mid 1950's they packed up their three kids and started on a journey to move to Alaska. On the way to Alaska they stopped in Colorado Springs Colorado and Dan worked as an ironworker at the Air Force Academy. They moved back to Texas in the late 1950's when Dan's brother Baxter came to Colorado Springs and convinced him to come "home" and start a construction company. When they moved back to Texas from Colorado they made their home in Brazoria Texas on Brigance Road. And so "Bundick Construction" was established. Dan retired in 1970 and the company was restructured and renamed "Tri Con" and is still in business today with Baxter's grandchildren at the helm.

He was an avid builder (he built every house his family lived in), bee keeper, hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to his elk hunts to Colorado, fishing trips to Lake Livingston, Toledo Bend, Mexico, and all the waters around the Gulf coast. He became a bee keeper to harvest and eat the honey to have some relief from the allergies he suffered; he always had one or two bee hives at him home. For the last 20+ years he expanded his bee hives to 25+ and sold honey to folks around the Brazoria County and Matagorda County area. He came to become known as "The Honey Man" and harvested honey until the age of 92.

He was very involved with the Greenwood Gun Club and shooting sports. He got his grandson Heath interested in skeet shooting and traveled the country taking him to shooting competitions from the time he was 8 years old. Heath's sons Hunter and Colby also shot skeet and Dan traveled to San Antonio in 2013 and 2014 to watch them compete in the State shoot. What a bitter sweet experience, he reconnected with acquaintances and friends he had known when he and Heath were a regular on the skeet fields of the United States for some 25+ years.

Dan was never one to sit idle, he was always on the go, active and doing the things he loved to do and visiting friends and family. Although he never made it to Alaska during his 95 years, he would agree he had "A Sweet Life." He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
