Danny Roy Zwahr, 75, of Damon, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. He was born on February 19, 1949, in Bay City, Texas to parents Roy and Elsie Zwahr. Danny graduated from Needville High School before serving in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. After completing his service, Danny returned home and married his beautiful wife of 52 years, Cheryl Sweeny, on June 2, 1972, and they eventually settled in Fairchilds where they raised their family. Danny was a faithful provider for his family and began his working career driving a truck for Nalco Chemical before taking a job as a mechanic and crane operator at Houston Lighting and Power in Thompsons. His love for equipment led him to starting his own earth moving business where he moved dirt and dug lakes for more than 15 years. After moving to Damon in 2009, Danny renewed his passion for driving trucks by taking a job with Damon Farm and Ranch where his associates affectionately nicknamed him “The Heavy Hauler”. Danny’s strongest love was for his family. He enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could. He enjoyed walking to the lake and sitting for hours fishing for crappie, and he loved to include all his grandchildren. He raised his family in the outdoors and taught his children life lessons through his love of nature. He looked forward to hunting season every year. The big 10 point he was after will just have to grow old as he did not get him this year. Danny was a man of high character and faith. He instilled those values in his family and shared in his faith as a member of St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Damon.
Danny is survived by his wife, Cheryl Zwahr, his daughter Casey Todd and husband Coleman, his son Cheston Zwahr and grandchildren Cole Todd, Cale Zwahr, Claire Todd, Cain Todd, and Canton Zwahr. He is also survived by his sister Alice Jakubec and husband James, brother Jeffrey Zwahr and wife Patti, sister VeeAnn Boff and husband Mike, sister Dana Shillingburg and husband Eddie, his brother-in-law Donald Sebesta, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elsie Zwahr and his sister Phyllis Sebesta.
Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Bean, Josh Finch, Mark Hemphill, Chase Jakubec, Chris Sebesta, Dustin Sebesta, Brett Sweeny, and Travis Sweeny.
