David Michael Knuckey

David Michael Knuckey of Sweeny, Texas passed away in his home Sunday, May 19th 2024. He was 74 years old.

David was born in Duluth, Minnesota on December 10th, 1949 to Betty (nee Cardinal) and Hugh Knuckey. They resided in Hermantown, Minnesota. In 1956 the family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. David graduated from Northeast Highschool in St. Petersburg in 1967.

As a young man, David was a Boy Scout, becoming and Eagle Scout, and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.  He went on to graduate from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Engineering in 1974.

Shortly after graduation he moved to Texas and went to work for Brown & Root. His work there took him overseas to Korea and Saudi Arabia. Later he moved to Brazoria County and started working at the Port of Freeport as the head of Engineering and Construction spending many years on numerous projects. His final working years were spent at the Port of Point Comfort in Port Lavaca, Texas.

David was a Licensed Professional Engineer and a lifetime member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He spent many years as an active member of the Wild Peach Lions Club.

David had a passion for the outdoors. He loved traveling, camping, hunting, and fishing with friends and family. David is proceeded in death by his parents.

David is survived by his wife Rhonda, daughter Sarah Weber (Colby), Stepchildren Sean Safarik and Kimberly McDougal, Step-grandchildren Maya Brantingham and Lorren and Colten McCutcheon, Siblings Lillian “Punky” Hall, Alice Larson (Keith), Bob Knuckey (Sandee), Lynn Svercl (Dan), and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday June 1^st from 11:30 – 1 pm at C.T. Baker Funeral Home 634 S. Columbia Dr.  West Columbia, TX 77486.  His religious service will begin at 1pm.  Interment will be private.
