Debra Kay Lanehart (71) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Debra was a lifelong resident of West Columbia, TX. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1971. While raising her daughters, she returned to school and graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Baccalaureate in Accounting in 1999.
Debra established 1st Capital Business Services in 2002 and grew it into the thriving accounting and business management company it is today. She was a respected and active member of the West Columbia business community for the last 22 years. In her free time, Debra enjoyed knitting, especially her grandchildren’s baby blankets.
She is survived by her four daughters; Shauna Parker and husband Patrick, Megan Bendit and husband Micheal, Rachel Mitchell and husband Ronald, and Lauren Caillouet and husband William. She was a loving grandmother (Obbie) to her 9 grandchildren: Julia and Jack Parker, Caleb and Madison Bendit, Ryder and Rylee Mitchell, Hagen Tielke, Lola and Ava Fuller. She was the second eldest of four siblings, and is survived by Ronnie Sutherland, Sandra Sutherland and Cindy Grandjean.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Gladys Sutherland and spouse, Kendall Davenport of West Columbia.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering to honor Debra’s life on Wednesday October 23rd from 4-6 p.m. at C.T. Baker Funeral Home 634 S. Columbia Dr, West Columbia. All friends and family are welcome.
