Duane Eugene (Ike) Mosher was born June 15,1930 in Schenectady, NY, to George and Lillian Mosher, the youngest of their four children.
Ike lived the first 18 years of his life in Lockport, NY, leaving to enlist in the US Army, where he attained the rank of Corporal. He served in the Army Security Agency from 1948-1951.
In 1949 he married Zella Tomkinson with whom he reared two sons and three daughters.
Ike lived in New York until he was 27 when he moved to Orlando, Florida to go to work as a manufacturing engineer on the Pershing missile, the Apollo missile and the Saturn missile programs. During his tenure at the Martin Marietta corporation, GE and Chrysler working on the missile programs, he was privileged to be able to meet several of the NASA astronauts involved with those programs. Ike earned a Professional Engineer’s license and an MBA degree.
In 1976 Ike moved his family to Lake Jackson, TX to go to work for Intermedics as their Executive Vice-President of Quality Control, a job he held until 1982. After leaving Intermedics he worked various jobs in both Brazoria and Harris counties before leaving corporate life to work in real estate for many years before retiring.
One of Ike’s greatest pleasures in life was spending time with those he loved telling his “stories” which were numerous. He never hesitated to willingly sacrifice whatever was necessary to ensure that they were happy and was always available for fatherly advice.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, Karan, and his very special sister-in-law, Vickie Reynolds, Ike is survived and will be greatly missed by his four daughters, Constance Ward, Denise Kennington, Vicki Williams and Erynn Boone and his three sons, Duane Mosher II, Dana Mosher and Robert Mosher. While his extended family which includes 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great, great-grandchildren are too numerous to name, he wanted each and everyone of them to know that they were all special to him!
