EARL WAYNE GRAGERT

Earl Wayne Gragert, 76, of Brazoria, Texas passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, in the Houston VA Hospital. Earl was born December 27, 1947 to A.F.(Sonny) and Lillie Gragert in Rosenberg, Texas. He was a graduate of Columbia High School. After High School he earned a Degree in Business. 

Earl was drafted into the Army, February 10,1969, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. During his tour in Vietnam he was awarded several Commendations including - 3 Purple Hearts, National Defense Medal, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Earl was Honorably Discharged December 11, 1970. 

After serving his country, Earl had a 30-year career with Dow Chemical.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents.

Earl is survived by his wife, Nelda of 45 years. They were married April 12, 1979. Together they raised 5 children. Daughters, Kitty Fitts (Brian) of Canyon Lake, Linda Taylor (John) of Kingwood, and Sunny Dowdy (Chris) of Kingwood, and Bonus Daughter Holly Knight of Kingwood. Sons, Tom Gragert (Marbella) of Richwood, and Taylor Love (Esther) of Columbia Lakes. Grandchildren Dillion Weatherford, Zackery Weatherford (Sarah), Tamera Pena, Jeremiah Pena, Lee Pena (Alyssa), Stormy Taylor (Jase), Jonathan Taylor, Kristen Gragert, Grady Gragert, Ronnie Hooper, Loren Mire, Gavin Gregory, Emma Dowdy, Fiona Dowdy, Travis Twigg. Great grandchildren Karriana Pena, Lilah Vaughn, Natalie Vaughn, Sophia Newman, Urijah Pena, Leiah Pena, Catalina Pena, Roran Jenkins, Dane Botma, and Arianna Botma.

Earl is also survived by his sister Sharon Gragert of Brazoria and brothers Kenneth Gragert (Sandra) of Sweeny, Ronnie Gragert of Sweeny, Allen Gragert (Nancy) of Brazoria, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Earl was a long-time active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brazoria. In his younger days Earl enjoyed hunting and fishing. His love of birds was known by all. Earl loved spending time with family and friends. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Tuesday November 26, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at C.T. Baker Funeral Home  634 S. Columbia Dr.  West Columbia.  His funeral service will be on Wednesday November 27th at 9:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Brazoria with Rev. Tracy Williams officiating.  Entombment to follow at Restwood Cemetery, Clute, TX.

Serving as Pallbearers are Taylor Love, Dillion Weatherford, Zackery Weatherford, Tamera Pena, Lee Pena, Grady Gragert, Gavin Gregory, Bobby Gragert, with Honorary pallbearer Travis Twigg.

The family request memorial contributions be made to the VA Hospital in Houston, American Heart Association, First Presbyterian Church of Brazoria, or a charity of your choice.
