Echo G. Waldby passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 in Houston, TX. She was born in Oklahoma and spent much of her life there. In the early 1940's she moved to Washington D.C. for work. While there, she was inducted into the Cadet Nurse Corp. Echo attended the University of Oklahoma nursing school in Oklahoma City, graduating in 1946.
She married Louis C. Waldby in Stillwater, OK on May 5, 1946. Echo earned a degree in Home Economics from Oklahoma State University and a Masters in Education from Wichita State University. Echo's tenure as a registered nurse lasted for several years; she then taught in elementary schools and ultimately combined her two careers into one, as a nursing instructor. Following retirement, she enjoyed traveling and sewing. She made quilts for family and dresses to donate to those in need.
Echo was predeceased by her husband Louis and son Carl.
She is survived by four children: Sarah Griffin (Glenn) of Pelham, AL, James Waldby (Gail) of Livingston, MT, Bob Waldby (MaryAnn) of Greensburg, PA, and Katherine Stoner (Gary) of Highlands Ranch, CO. Echo is also survived by her older sister Beth Baker, younger brother Albert Copley (Zella), and younger sister Edith Schuler, as well as several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia, TX at 2:00 P.M Friday, August 20, 2021, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 P.M.
