Elwood Russell Caldwell, 74, of West Columbia passed from this life in Galveston on Feb. 28, 2019. He was born in West Columbia to James B. & Chloe Caldwell on November 8, 1944. He was a lifelong resident of West Columbia.
Elwood graduated from West Columbia High School in 1963 and was a football and track star. He then graduated from the University of Houston Pharmacy School and was a life long pharmacist. He also taught a pharmacy technician class at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson. He was loved by his many patients. He competed many years in AAU Power Lifting Competition with a personal best bench press of 450 pounds. Elwood was also a former minister at First Baptist Church in Pledger as well as founding "In Jesus Way" internet ministry.
Graveside services will be held at Columbia Cemetery on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 2pm with George Snow officiating. The family will receive friends at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia from 10am to 12pm on Tuesday.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Alice Darlene; sons, Corey Bronson Caldwell & fiancé, Jenna, Donald James Erdman and Russell Dale Sassin; brother, Jim Caldwell, who Elwood referred to as "his hero"; cousin, Donna Kubesch and lifelong friends, Billy and George Snow and many other friends and relatives.
