Elwood Earl (Pete) Parnell passed away April 20, 2017 at 80 years old. He was born on September 23, 1936 in Iola, Texas, to Enoch Elwood and Isabella Blondie (Snook) Parnell, the fifth of eight children.
The family moved to Brazoria County in 1945 to find work. Pete spent his school years in Iola and Angleton. He loved to read, and was a happy outgoing person who loved to visit with friends and relatives, and make new friends. He always tried to make it to Iola for family reunions, until car or health problems prevented him from going alone, he wouldn't go with anyone else. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Pete regularly shared his faith with others, until it became to difficult for him to get out. Then he would talk to anyone that came by.
Pete married Eunice Catherine Cash on May 5, 1983. They made their home in Lufkin.
Pete is survived by his sister, Linda Holt of Lake Jackson, brother, Wayne E. Parnell and wife Mary of Iola, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pete is preceded in death by his wife and parents; brothers, JW Parnell, Bobby Parnell, Jack Parnell; sisters, Daisy Hunziker and Lillie Anding.
We would like to thank his friends who stopped in to visit, nephew, Judge Mathews and wife, Carol, who went out of their way to take Pete to doctors, also niece, Leslie Burks. We would also like to thank the 4th floor nurses and nurses' aides at Chi St. Luke's Health-Brazosport and Dr. Katte and Dr. Meah.
