Ernest “Joe” Savarese

Ernest Joe Savarese, 84, of West Columbia passed away on July 2, 2024 in Galveston, TX. He was born on December 19, 1939 to the late Ernest Bryant and Grace Savarese in Gulfport, MS. He served proudly in the Mississippi National Guard. He was a member of IBEW Local 66 and retired from STP in 1995.

Joe loved animals and enjoyed studying military history. There was nothing he could not fix, and he seemed to know something about everything. He could usually be found drinking a cup of coffee and telling stories about the many adventures he had in life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Peggy Asmus and Jerry Savarese. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Charlotte, his daughter Tanya Hood (Hal) of Bay City, son Brent Savarese (Laurie) of Palestine, grandchildren Travis Hood (Rebekah), Carly Hood (fiancé Victor Cabrera), Caleb Savarese (Katelyn), and Ethan Savarese (Megan), and great-grandchildren Luke, Jacob, Evelyn, and Titus Hood, and Ezra Savarese. 

Upon Ernest’s wishes, there will be no public services held. The family wishes that those who choose, to please make a donation to the Texas Blessings Rescue c/o 2608 Strawberry Ln. Bay City, TX 77414 in Ernest’s memory.
