Evelyne Shannon

Evelyne Inez Shannon, 96, of West Columbia, Texas passed away June 20, 2016. Evelyne was born on April 2, 1920 to Charles and Inez Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grover R. Shannon, Sr.; her 2 brothers, Charles and Cedric Morgan, and 6 sisters, Helen Trammell, Hazel Harbison, Florence Buehler, Verona Black, Mary Alice Allred, Lola Fay Logan and surviving sister, Pat Latham of Oklahoma City.

Evelyne is survived by sons, Grover Richard Shannon, Jr. and wife, Jurhee; Bill Leroy Shannon and wife Bette; grandchildren, Debbie Kilgore and husband, Jim; Gina Sanderson and husband, Glen; Sue Ramsay and husband, Doyle; K.C. Shannon and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Kristi Brasel, Amy Alford, Benjamin Ramsay, Nicholas Ramsay, Kaitlin Ramsay, Connor Shannon, Kellan Shannon and Avery Shannon along with 3 great-great-grandchildren, Sydney Brasel, Lance Brasel and Lucas Alford.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at First Baptist Church of West Columbia with Pastor Ryan Lintelman officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 pm until service time at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Doyle Ramsay, K.C. Shannon, Jim Kilgore, Glenn Sanderson, Trevor Brasel and Barry Alford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Smith, Lewis Alexander, Benjamin Ramsay, Nicholas Ramsay, Connor Shannon and Kellan Shannon.
Evelyne loved the Lord, her church, and singing in the church choir. She received a twenty year service award pin for being a volunteer at Angleton Hospital. Also, she was involved in many other volunteer activities. She enjoyed golf, travel, painting and especially her Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. Eating at Red Lobster was also one of her favorite activities.

The Shannon Family would like to thank the staff of The Fountains Assisted Living facility for all their loving care. Also, thank you to the members of the First Baptist Church, and Baker Funeral Home for their kindness during this time.
