Everet E. Kennemer, III CPA, a distinguished Certified Public Accountant who dedicated over 35 years to his profession, has peacefully passed away at the age of 82 on June 12, 2024, in Sweeny, TX. He was born on October 24, 1941, in Bay City, TX to the late Edna (Fortenbery) Kennemer and Everet E. Kennemer, II. Everet grew up in Brazoria, graduated from West Columbia High School and was a distinguished Texas A&M University graduate, Class of 1964.
Everet's professional journey was marked by the founding of Kennemer, Masters & Lunsford, an esteemed accounting firm established in Clute, TX back in 1971. Serving as its President and CEO, Everet exhibited unparalleled diligence and expertise throughout his career.
A man of remarkable achievements and community involvement, Everet's impact extended far beyond the realm of accounting. From serving as the Treasurer for U.S. Congressman Greg Laughlin to being the president and/or board member for organizations such as the Brazoria County American Red Cross, Brazosport Rotary Club, Cradle of Texas Emmaus Community, Riverside Country Club, Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce and the BACH Rehabilitation Center, he was deeply committed to bettering his community. Everet was also appointed by the Governor of Texas as a member of the Board of Directors for the Brazos River Authority from 1993-1999. His philanthropic contributions and leadership roles have left an indelible mark on all those he served.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Everet found immense joy in various hobbies such as golfing, amateur photography, and supporting Texas Aggie Football. His love for travel allowed him to explore new horizons while his passion for fishing and hunting grounded him in the appreciation of God’s creation. He also loved supporting his children in every endeavor such as being a dedicated coach and board member for Sweeny Little League & Babe Ruth baseball, never missing sporting events or extracurricular activities and committed to all family activities.
Apart from his illustrious professional life and community service, Everet cherished his role as a loving granddad to his grandchildren - Kylea, Lauryn, Owen & Samuel - and great-grandchildren Sawyer, Slate & Finley Mae. He derived immense happiness from spending time with his family and witnessing the growth of future generations.
Everet E. Kennemer III is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Nita Kennemer of West Columbia; son Everet E. Kennemer IV and wife Tonyia of Lake Jackson, TX; daughter Elizabeth and husband Jim Bob Carver of Abernathy, TX; along with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services to honor Everet's life will be held at Columbia Methodist Church in West Columbia on June 19th. A Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. The Interment will be held at Old Columbia Cemetery at 3:00 PM on the same day.
Everet E. Kennemer III's legacy will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication to both his profession and community along with the love he shared with those closest to him. May he rest in eternal peace knowing that his kindness and contributions have touched countless lives.
Everet’s life journey and legacy were built on his love of God’s Word and The Lord Jesus Christ. He remained faithful, ran a good race and has finished well—to God be the Glory!
