Florine Sims

Florine Florence (Fink) Sims, 90 years old, went to be with the Lord May 25, 2016. She was born December 31, 1925 in Guy, Texas to Gottlieb and Lillie Ida Fink. She was our beloved mother (Mama), sister, daughter and friend to all.

She married Milton D. Sims on June 1, 1946 and spent 65 years together and lived together near West Columbia, Texas raising sons Ivan and Gary and daughter Edna Jean,while living on the farm she enjoyed everything about farm life... growing fresh vegetables and fruits in her large garden... canning the fruits of her labor as well as cooking great meals for all to eat. No one ever left her home hungry. Florine spent several years working as the assistant Postmaster of the Danciger Post Office. One of her favorite things was spending time with her large family celebrating holidays and special occasions.

She loved crafts of all kinds, especially crocheting. She enjoyed making special gifts for family and friends, especially her grandkids. She also loved reading and puzzles.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia from 10:00am until 11:00am with service beginning at 11:00am with Dennis Sims officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tony Alanis, Steven Alanis, Clint Sims, Kevin Musselman, John Pena and Tom Ninke. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Lindsay, Ben Proko and W.D. Kilsby.

Florine is survived by her sons, Ivan Sims and wife, Janet of Georgetown; Gary Sims and wife, Ginny of West Columbia; daughter, Edna Jean Musselman and husband, Clifford of Victoria; brother, Eugene Fink of West Columbia and sister, Willie Mae Hawkins of West Columbia; she is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton Sims, brothers, Alvin and George Fink and sister, Lorine Kilsby.

We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Country Village Care in Angleton, TX and the hospice nurses of A*MED Healthcare Group for their loving care of our mother.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in West Columbia or AMED Hospice in her name.
