It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the death of our precious boy, Gavin Slade Noble Martinez. Gavin passed away wrapped up in the arms of his parents on February 12, 2025, at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. He fought a courageous battle fearlessly with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia), underwent multiple chemotherapy treatments, countless surgical procedures and then a bone marrow transplant. Due to complications of that transplant, Gavin is now our Angel. Gavin was born in Houston, Texas on May 23, 2013, to Jorge Martinez and Alexandria Noble. Gavin will remain the brightest light in their lives as he now lives in their hearts. Gavin was a strong and fearless young boy that faced many challenges related to the treatment he received for his diagnoses of AML on February 10, 2024. Gavin loved his family and always reminded them of that love with the many “I love you’ s" or his sassy come backs as he loved to joke around, play pranks and get into playful debates with anyone that was around. Gavin wanted to be an attorney, and it showed in those debates that he would have made an excellent defense attorney. His interest had changed over the years from his pre-k graduation where he wanted to be a “mom”.
Gavin was in the hospital for most of 2024 and 2025 and always had a smile on his face. Gavin found comfort in listening to his music and would often make the nurses, chaplain, doctors and honestly anyone that came into his room rap with him.
Gavin was an avid fisherman and was very competitive in everything he did. Gavin also played baseball for the past 5 years prior to his diagnoses with the Damon Little League. Gavin played many positions for his team and was always there to help any of his team mates out whether it was practicing pitching or strategizing on which play would best land them a home run. As a baby when Gavin first started to walk, he would dribble his basketball and that was his thing. He was three years old making hoops and always had his basketball nearby. Gavin played on the Damon Bobcats basketball team and was the smallest, but most fierce boy out on that court. Gavin attended Damon ISD and loved his friends, his teammates and honestly Gavin never met a stranger.
To know Gavin is to love Gavin. Gavin made an impact on everyone that met him and even those who never will.
Gavin is survived by his parents, Mother, Alexandria Noble and Father, Jorge Martinez and wife Alexis. Siblings Brennen Noble Barcak, of Richmond Texas, Kelten Noble Barcak of Rosenberg, Tx, Aiden Noble, Skyler Noble Garcia, Karli Noble Martinez, Anthony Pena of Damon, Texas and Owen Soileau Gavin's cousin, brother & best friend, of Damon, TX.. Gavin is also survived by his grandparents Helen Noble of Damon, TX and Alfred and Anita Martinez of Damon, Texas. Gavin is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and many cousins. Gavin was predeceased in death by his Grandfather Murray Noble and Uncle Alfredo Martinez.
We, Gavins' Mom and Dad would like to give thanks to all of you who prayed for our sweet boy, to the ones that added him to the many prayer groups and the ones that came and prayed over him, to the ones that sent care packages, the ones that cooked for him and us, and the ones who called and checked up on us. Thank you to everyone that kept up with Gavin’s Journey and included him in your lives. Thank you to our family that continually cooked meals, washed clothes and made the trip to the hospital to drop off whatever we needed or whatever Gavin wanted.
A huge thanks to Texas Children's Hospital nurses, doctors, PCA’s, social workers, child life, Lawton and Pinto for making our boys horrible days and nights more manageable with your presence. Either by playing a game of ball, a game of chess, Uno, connect four or just rubbing his back. Thank you for bringing goodies to keep him occupied and sitting with him through his pain or uncomfortable times. Gavin truly loved each one of you even if he gave you a hard time. You all became family and not only were you there and helped Gavin you also helped us navigate such a horrendous nightmare and gave us the ability and strength to be the best for our boy.
