Grady Johnson

Grady Douglas Johnson, 72, of Brazoria passed from this life on Oct. 24, 2015 in Lake Jackson, Texas. He was born on Sept. 28, 1943 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Nelson & Stella Johnson.
He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1961. Grady served in the U S Air Force as Senior Airman with the Strategic Air Command and later as an Aviation A/C Technical Instructor from July 1961 until July 1967. He also worked for the Decatur Illinois and Freeport Texas police departments; two years on the SPR at Bryan Mound, and retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 2005 after 25 years of service.
Grady was married to the love of his life, Jacquie, on June 23, 1980 in Angleton, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Brazoria and a very proud member of the Brazoria County Calvary.
He most enjoyed being with his family, fishing, hunting, going to gun shows, and traveling the Texas Hill Country. Grady will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at Baker Funeral Home in Brazoria on Oct. 27, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home in Brazoria. Burial will follow at Brazoria Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tyler Prihoda, Justin Hein, Cole Hein, Ray Juarez, Alan Rosamond & Mac Penney. Honorary pallbearers are John Johnson, Guy Johnson, Josh Kennemer, Johnny Hanna, Dalton Rosamond, Ricky Penney, TJ Smith, Brandon Ramirez, & Brazoria County Calvary.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jacquie; daughters, Sheila Johnson, Kathleen Collins, Kelly Young & husband, Rick, Tammy Hein & husband, Heath, Shanna East & husband, Buster, Dandrea Rosamond & husband, Randy; brothers, John Johnson & wife, Barbara, Guy Johnson; grandchildren, Tyler & Peyton Prihoda, Pyper East, Heather Juarez, Justin Hein, Logan Hein-Blackstock, Cole Hein, Elizabeth Taylor, Kaysie & Joshua Kennemer, Carrie Smith, Mac Penney, Ricky Penney, Alan & Dalton Rosamond, Emily, Heather, & Elizabeth Nauert; 20 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Collins; sister, Penny Johnson & great granddaughter, Zaylen Ramirez.
Our family would like to thank Ashley and the staff of Bethany Home Health, Dr. Mohammed Attar and staff, Dr. Ibrahim F. Ibrahim and staff at Methodist Hospital, the staff of Brazosport Regional Healthcare emergency department, and the intensive care unit for their extraordinary care, and a note of appreciation to Gulf Coast Chevy-GMC-Buick.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Grady's name to the Brazoria County Calvary or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
