Greta Burkett

Longtime resident of Sweeny, Texas, Greta Isbell Burkett, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Sweeny.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 2:00 pm with visitation being one hour before the service at the Sweeny Church of Christ with Ken Hysten officiating. There will be a private burial for family following the service at Sweeny Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Eric Morris, Bill Hatchett, Jim Alford, Mike Robbins, Jackie Schmidt, Jim Achten,and honorary pallbearer, Brett Morris.

Greta is preceded in death by her first husband, James B. Isbell; and her second husband, Buster Burkett of Sweeny; her daughter, Brenda Isbell Morris and spouse, Michael Morris of Austin; her parents, Giles and Pearl Lockhart of Rising Star; sisters, Dorothy Dunn Pendley also of Rising Star, and Mary Lockhart Alford of Sweeny; and a brother, G. H. Lockhart (surviving spouse, Virginia) of Austin.

Greta is survived by one sister, Janelle Caudele of Rising Star, TX; daughter, Janet Isbell Hatchett (Bill) of Sweeny; step-daughter, Cindy Burkett Wilkerson of Austin; 6 grandchildren, Brett Morris, Eric Morris (Mandy) of Austin, Holly Hatchett of Pearland, Daniel Wilkerson (Megan) of West Columbia, Christina Wilkerson Laird (Jason) and Casey Wilkerson McEwen (Zach) of Palestine; 7 great grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces and nephews and their children.
