"If you can't make it better, you can laugh at it"-Erma Bombeck
Helen Lea Mason was born on July 17, 1928 in Houston, Texas to William Tell Sutter, Jr. and Laura Lea Sutter. She passed away on February 10, 2016 in Sugar Land, Texas.
Helen lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment. After marrying Billy Mason almost 69 years ago on April 30, 1947, they set out on many adventures. But her true passion was her family. Being able to stay home and raise her children in a home filled with true love for the Lord still radiates through her family today. There was rarely a Sunday where she wasn't cooking after church or visiting a restaurant for her favorite meal (which was almost anything).
She enjoyed playing the piano and autoharp and taught her granddaughters how to play both later in life. Helen was also very active in Women on Missions, and there was rarely a visit to her exercise group where she wasn't bragging about her amazing great grandchildren and newest great-great- granddaughter.
Helen had a special gift of hospitality and was always the first to suggest a party. She laughed till she cried any chance she could get. She taught her family that life can be hard. But if you have a sense of humor and more importantly, faith, you can handle anything. And she did.
Helen is survived by her husband Billy Mason, daughter Laura Anderson (Roy), granddaughters April Anderson and Amy White (Mikey), 6 great grand children and 1 great great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Lofty and Sue Mustow, from Perth, Australia. She is preceded in death by her parents William T. Sutter, Jr. and Laura Lea Sutter and son, Billy Don Mason.
Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home on Sunday, February 14 at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at her home church, First Baptist Church in West Columbia on Monday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ryan Lintelman officiating. Pallbearers will be Roy Anderson, Evann Anderson, Travis Freeman, Wesley Freeman, Mikey White, and Billy Young. A graveside service will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas at 2:30 on Monday, February 15, 2016.
