Helen Bernice Pope

Helen Bernice Pope, a beloved matriarch and towering figure in her community, passed into the arms of the Lord peacefully on February 28, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on December 20, 1926, in Caddo, Oklahoma, Helen was a bright spirit who carried her warmth and wisdom with her throughout her life.

Helen had a distinguished career, retiring as the Vice President of the Bay City Savings & Loan, where she was admired for her dedication and leadership. Her professional achievements were a testament to her strong work ethic and commitment to serving her community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lona Mae (Haddock) and Lester L. Lindsey, her beloved husband, Olan Pope, and her son Ronnie Pope. Helen’s legacy lives on through her family, including her son, Dennis Pope and his wife Margie of Llano, Texas, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Ron (Melinda), Russell (Amy), Jason, Cody (Trisha), and Denise Pope. Furthermore, she is survived by twelve great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

A graveside service to celebrate Helen's remarkable life was held at Sweeny Cemetery on March 3, 2025.
