Our beloved mother, Irene Helen Kalischko, (Nanny), 91, of Brazoria, TX peacefully went to her eternal home on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, surrounded by her 6 children and numerous family members. Irene was born August 2, 1930, in Moulton, Tx to Frank and Ella Kloesel. She was the oldest of 8 children. Irene’s dream was to become a nurse, but instead stayed home to help her dad work on the farm and her mom care for her younger siblings.
Irene married the love of her life, Clarence Kalischko, on October 18, 1948. They began their happy and successful life together in the Brazosport area raising their 6 children, working alongside one another starting and maintaining their rental house empire.
Irene was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Church and Catholic daughters in Brazoria, TX. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W Post 8576 Ladies Auxiliary serving as president for a term.
She was an incredible cook, and her house was filled with the best smells of homemade food. She looked forward to the Sunday dinners and traditional holiday celebrations with her large family. She was an avid hunter of various wildlife. She enjoyed playing slots, the lottery, dominoes, and Bunco, but Bingo was by far her favorite pastime. Irene was well known for her work ethic which she instilled in all her children and grandchildren. She did not tolerate “LAZY.” She was a very strong, loving, nurturing, caring lady but could be a little feisty at times. We are grateful to say with true confidence that she is no longer suffering from Alzheimer’s. She has been healed and made whole. Our hearts are at peace knowing she is reunited with her husband in heaven.
Left to cherish Irene’s life are her 6 children, son Danny Kalischko and wife Deborah of Angleton; daughter Constance Rankin and husband Mark of Seguin; daughter Deborah Dumas and husband Preston of Houston; Son James (Bimbo) Kalischko and wife Denise of Brazoria; daughter Diane (DeDe) Smith and husband Lane of Lake Jackson; and son Darren (Tiger) Kalischko and fiancé Melissa of Brazoria. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, with 4 on the way, and 1 great great grandchild. She is survived by her 7 siblings; her sister Natalie Mikes and brothers Sonny Kloesel and wife Norma, Oscar Kloesel, Frankie Kloesel, Harvey Kloesel and wife Diana, Ronnie Kloesel and wife Clara, and JJ Kloesel and wife Diana and sisters-in-law Marilyn Rosenauer and Evelyn Kubicek.
She’s preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Clarence “Boots” and her parents Frank and Ella Kloesel.
