Irma M. Jones “Mee-Maw”

Irma M. Jones, more affectionately known as Mee-Maw, 91, of Sweeny, TX peacefully passed away at home, on November 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Mee-Maw was born July 10th, 1933, to José and Dolores Munoz in Hipólito, Coahuila, Mexico. 

Mee-Maw was a Calculus college professor at the Universidad de Saltillo, Mexico, until she met the love of her life James “Pee-Paw” Jones. The two Married August 4th, 1961, and moved to Sweeny, Texas. The two of them ran a successful Tax Preparation business in Sweeny. Mee-Maw often enjoyed needlepoint and was a phenomenal seamstress making elaborate Halloween costumes for her Grandchildren. She was an avid shopper and was known by name by many retail employees.

Mee-Maw is survived by her husband of 63 years. Four children Melonie (John, deceased) Millwood, Eran (Kelly) Jones, Markham Jones, and Dolores “Baby” Jones. Seven Grandchildren, John Millwood II, Brandy (Michael) Mendez, Louis (Gina) Millwood, Kristi (Steven) Dashney, Mandy (Erin) Kennedy, Marci (Ryan) Odegard, and Travis (Nicki) Schuerg. 18 Great-Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay respects top her family on Tuesday November 12th from 10-11 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sweeny. The rosary will be prayed beginning at 10:30 a.m. Her funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Preston Quintela presiding. Interment to follow at Sweeny Cemetery.
