Jack Ferguson Lands Jr. Obituary

Jack Ferguson Lands Jr. December 30, 1937 - February 19, 2019
A remarkable man. Jack was born in Brenham Texas to Laura (Lanford) and Jack F. Lands Sr.
In his youth, his family moved to Houston, where he started school at Cashmere Gardens. At an early age, he lost his mother to cancer. Afterward, he and his siblings were relocated to Rockdale Texas, and were raised by their loving Grandparents. He completed his school years at Rockdale, and then entered the University of Texas in Austin. After completing his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, he later obtained his Master's degree as well at the University of Texas. Jack worked for NASA during the moon landing years. His project was to assist in the design and development of the placement of rockets on the command module, which in theory were to be used to soften the impact landing of the command module which held the precious cargo... our astronauts.
Jack later worked at Schlumberger for many years until his retirement. Jack was held in high esteem by his colleges. While at Schlumberger he was a senior engineer working in the design and development of shaped charges for oil well perforating. During his tenure, he had multiple U.S. patents awarded to him for his designs.
He loved travel, hunting, fishing, and family.
