James Hankins

James Alfred Hankins (81) of west Columbia went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2016

He is survived by wife of 59 years Donna Lynn and children Lisha Smith and husband Mike, Keith Hankins and wife Grace, and Kurt Hankins and wife Wendy. Also, grandchildren Jason Smith and wife Kim, Bryan Hankins and wife Nicole, Jamie Majewski and husband Kevin, and Kendy Hankins and 8 great grandchildren. In addition he leaves behind his sister Patsy Ruth Hightower and husband William.

Jim was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church and was blessed to be a part of the Men's Sunday School class, which he loved dearly.

A member of the United States Army, he was very proud to have served his country.

After leaving the army he began his career at the Phillips 66 Sweeny Refinery where he worked for 35 years until his retirement.

He was a member of St. John's #5 Masonic Lodge in West Columbia where he was also a past Master of the Lodge.

He served and was a part of many organizations in the West Columbia area where he lived for over 50 years.

Services will be Wednesday, July 27, at 10:00am at Columbia United Methodist Church, West Columbia.
