JoAnn Durham, a beloved mother, wife, grandma, great-grandma, and dedicated lifetime Church Volunteer, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024, in Lake Jackson, Texas. Born on December 8, 1938, in Selman City, Texas, JoAnn’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family and her community.
JoAnn was a proud graduate of Thornton High School, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with love, learning, and service. She could often be found sharing her heart and her talents at the First Baptist Church of Brazoria, where she was an active member and an inspiring figure in the Ladies Red Hat Society. Her passion for community outreach was exemplified through her involvement with The Good News Club at Barrow Elementary, where she touched the lives of countless children with her kindness and compassion.
She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her children: Susan Moses (Tim), Kathy Hammack (Duane), and Mark Durham (Heidi). JoAnn took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Aaron Moses (Gracie), Zach Moses (Tori), Taylor Hammack (Bailey), Mackenzie Hammack (Meagan), Matthew Durham (Mariana), Mason Durham, and the joys of her life, her 14 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law James Durham (Evelyn). Each one held a special place in her heart, and she made it a point to celebrate their milestones with unmatched enthusiasm and love.
JoAnn was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Eddie Glyn Durham and her parents, Willis and Virene Truitt, who, along with her family, provided a strong foundation of love that shaped her character and values. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her, reminding them of the importance of family, faith, and kindness.
A visitation to celebrate JoAnn's remarkable life will be held on October 17, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas. Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Brazoria on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM with interment at Cobb Cemetery in Thornton, Tx at 4:30 PM. As we remember JoAnn, let us carry forward her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to uplifting others, ensuring that her spirit remains alive in all our hearts.
