Johnnie Keck

Johnnie D. Keck, 91 of West Columbia, Texas passed away Monday, September 28, 2015. He was born September 21, 1924 in Gonzales, Texas to Roy and Lina (Cowey) Keck. He was a WWII Veteran who served in the Army from 1943- 1947; a member of the American Legion, Cattleman's Association and St. John's Catholic Church. He tilled many gardens in the area; volunteered at schools and many other places that were needed; he also replaced Christmas lights for the city, and volunteered at the Christian Senior Citizen Center. He worked many years at Western Auto. Then he worked and retired from Texas New Mexico Power.

Funeral services will be held 9:30am, Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Daniel Baguio officiating. Burial will follow at Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a rosary being recited at 7:00pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandkids, Wes Thurman, Brent Keck, Scott Keck, and Derek Keck, along with Mike Cole and Michael Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Doyle, Billy Pugh, Lanny Lloyd, Gary Maus, and Mase Weems.

Johnnie is survived by son, Keith Keck and wife, Linda of Cedar Creek; daughter, Pam Keck Thurman of Brazoria; sisters, Hester Behlen of Cost and Jessie Bos of Lumberton; grandchildren, Katrina Lassiter and husband, Billy; Wes Thurman and wife, Karen, Brent Keck and wife, Barbara, Scott Keck and wife, Reagan, and Derek Keck and wife, Traci; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josephine Keck, and brother, Bud Keck, sister-in-law, Rosemary Keck and brothers-in-law, G.O. Behlen and Ed Bos.
