Joseph Lingo, Jr.

Our beloved father and hero, Joseph Andrew Lingo Jr., 91, of Sweeny went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Joseph Andrew Sr. & Gladys Lingo on Nov. 9, 1924 in Sweeny, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Sweeny, serving in the Army Air Corp as a Sgt. First Class during WW II and working 38 years for Phillips Petroleum as an electrical supervisor. He was a member of the Sweeny Old Ocean Volunteer Fire Dept. Old Ocean Masonic Lodge # 1284 and the First Baptist Church in Sweeny. He was Constable for Brazoria County for 8 years and was a reserve deputy for Sweeny Police Dept. and the Brazoria County Sheriff's Dept.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Sweeny with John Price officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Serving as pallbearers are Dennis Lingo, Ricky Graff, Gary Pate, Joey Bruce, James Lingo Jr., Travis Dodd and Cleston King. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Orr, Darryl Orr, Robert Pate and members of Old Ocean Masonic Lodge.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruby Lingo; children, James A. Lingo Sr. & wife, Carol and Bonnie Champagne & husband, John; grandchildren, James A. Lingo Jr & wife, Casey, Nicole Dodd & husband, Travis, Jonathan Champagne & wife, Anita ; great grandchildren, Rinley & Tayton Dodd; brother, Colonel Billy Ray Lingo(Ret.) & wife, Rosie; sisters, Betty Bruce and Donna Lindsey & husband, Bill; aunt, Ernelle Orr Rayburn. He is preceded in death by his parents; Mother in law & Father in law, Robert & Lillie Pate; great granddaughter, Grace Lingo, and brother in law, A. T. Bruce.
