Joseph Lyndale Scott, 88, of Brazoria Texas entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family.
Joseph was born July 14, 1932 to John and Emma Scott of Ware Shoals, South Carolina. He retired after 23 years in the United States Air Force in food service and as a Drill Sergeant at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He then retired after 25 years at American National Insurance Company in Galveston as Manager of Corporate Food Service. Joseph was a member of Texas Avenue Baptist Church for 27 years where he served as a deacon. Most recently, he was an honorary deacon at First Baptist Church of Brazoria and was a member of the American Legion Post 561, Brazoria Texas.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Jeanene Scott, and his daughter, Christine Scott (Floyd). He had 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Scott is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Scott, M.R. Scott and James Scott; sisters, Clara James and Carolyn Malone; his son, Kenneth R. Scott; and daughter, Susan Scott Tatsch.
Viewing will be held at 10 am on Thursday, October 1, 2020 followed by funeral services at 11 am with Pastor Greg Smith officiating at the First Baptist Church of Brazoria. The members of the American Legion Post 561 of Brazoria Texas will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Brazoria, 101 E. San Bernard St. Brazoria Texas 77422.
