Kenneth Hood

Kenneth Floyd Hood, a longtime resident of Sweeny and West Columbia, Texas was born August 8, 1941, in Matagorda County, Texas to Alex and Maxine Hood. He entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at the age of 79 sheltered in the loving arms of his beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He married the love of his life, Cindy, on October 12, 1968.  They were lovingly married and devoted to one another for 53 years. He was an ever-loving, ever-gracing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He grew up on the back of a horse, and in his later years his mount was a golf cart.

Ken was fiercely loyal to his family and loved them above all else.  He looked forward to all family gatherings and would request them often during his battle with cancer. His infectious laugh and wit were contagious, and he spoke often about God’s grace with each of his family members.  He was a good shepherd and still-shining light in their lives.

Ken is survived by his son Kenneth Hood; daughter Kimberly Williams and husband Derek and granddaughter Brooke Williams; daughter Kerry Iselt and husband Duane and grandchildren Jake and Ava Iselt as well as grandson Jordan Baker and wife Sydney and two great grandsons Luke and Jack Baker.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents Alex and Maxine Hood and his sister, Martha Lou Ashmore.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon prior to the services.

A celebration of life for Ken will be on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Sweeny, 402 N. Main St., Sweeny, TX. with Pastor John Price officiating.  Burial will follow at the Sweeny Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Hood, Jordan Baker, Derek Williams, Duane Iselt, David Weeks and Pete Dixon. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jake Iselt.
