Laquita Yancey

Laquita Joy Yancey, 81 of Sweeny, Texas passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Sweeny Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 4, 1933 in Abilene, Texas to Roma Levi and Mary Alice (White) Whetsel. She was the owner and director of Young World Daycare, a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Sweeny Hospital for many years and a Sunday School Secretary and a long time member of First Baptist Church of Old Ocean. Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia with Alan Gentiles officiating. Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Baker Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Reynolds, Sr.; Jace Reynolds, Alexeyev Martinez, Jimmy Prihoda, Jordan Roachell and Darren Hylden. Honorary pallbearer will be A. J. Dike, Sr. Laquita is survived by daughters, Cindy Dike and husband, A.J. of Sweeny; Kathy Prihoda and husband, Jimmy of Sweeny; grandchildren, Jared Reynolds, Sr. and wife, Lisa; Jace Reynolds, Jennifer Hylden and husband, Darren; Bethany Roachell, Jordan Roachell, A.J. Dike, Jr. and Tony Dike; great-grandchildren, Alexeyev Martinez, Larissa Reynolds, Jared Reynolds, Jr. and Jayson Roachell; along with numerous nieces, nephews and family members. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry along with 2 sisters and 3 brothers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
