Larry Dean Bobbitt, born July 22, 1950 was greeted by our heavenly Father at 7pm on Sunday, April 16th 2017 at the age of 66. During a seven year battle with cancer, Larry displayed courage and strength through his final hours. Larry was born in Sinton, Texas to Clarence E. Bobbitt & Theresa Mary Linney, his passing was preceded by his father Clarence and brother Glenn. Larry is survived by his wife of 35 years Suzan M. (Kubasik) Bobbitt of West Columbia, and two daughters Amanda Crossler and Lindsay Carter, their spouses Robert and Chase and his three grandchildren Robby, Ryder and Remy. Larry ‘s memory will also be carried on by his mother Theresa Bobbitt, his two sisters Betty Hancock and Kathy Pipkin, and his brother Wayne Bobbitt as well as their spouses, several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Born and raised in South Texas; Larry graduated from Woodsboro High School in 1968. Followed by his service as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps (1970-1974), Larry returned home to marry Suzan and start a family of his own. Larry's entire life revolved around four of his greatest loves, his wife, his children, his country and his faith. Some of the most enjoyable moments in his life came while hunting, playing golf with his son-in-laws and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Larry was an example of the importance in placing others before himself, never asking for anything more than he was willing to give.
Retiring from BP in 2000, Larry was later contracted by several plants as a systems analyst. Larry had an insatiable need for knowledge and a deep understanding of the world around him. His connection with others will never be forgotten as he will live forever in the hearts those whose lives he has touched.
Funeral services will take place at 10am Saturday April 22, 2017, at the Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. We encourage all friends who would like to spend time with the family to do so Friday between the hours of 6pm and 8pm.
Pallbearers will be Keith Pipkin, Kasey Pipkin, Robert Crossler, Chase Carter, Dennis Quebe and John Kubasik. Honorary pallbearers include Wayne Bobbitt, Gerald Mick.
