Leatrice Keener

Leatrice Joy Keener, 78, of Sweeny passed from this life on April 22, 2016 at Sweeny Community Hospital. She was born Dec. 7, 1937 in Clarendon, Texas to Albert James and Zula Mae Armstrong.

Joy loved painting, crocheting, cooking, and gardening. She also loved spending time with grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family and friends. She enjoyed working at the hospital as a physical therapist. She was a member of Alpha Phi Masters sorority and First United Methodist Church in Sweeny.

Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Sweeny on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Nancy Cobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery. Visitation with family will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Serving as pallbearers are Alex Keener, Grant Keener, Blake Keener, Sekki Grant Keener, David Keener and Bill Keener. Honorary pallbearers are Poe Keener, Bob Lewis, Jerry Dyess, Jim Wright, Johnny Pulliam and Jim Lytle.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, William M. "Bill" Keener Sr.; sons, Bill Keener & wife, Sandy and David James Keener & wife, Tina; grandchildren, Alex Keener & wife, Catherine, Grant Keener, Blake Keener & wife, Monica; great grandchildren, Zak Schulz, Hunter Keener, Brelynn Keener, & Jackson Keener; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Joy's name to the American Heart Association or First United Methodist Church in Sweeny.
