With heavy hearts, the family of Lois May Phelps Lord announces her passing after a long illness, on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the age of 88 years.
Born in Dimmitt, Texas, Lois lived in Garland, Texas during the years preceding her death. During her life, she was a devoted wife and mother, and caretaker to son Larry. She studied at West Texas State in Lubbock; and spent her career in a variety of interesting endeavors, including school secretary, restauranteur, and Gulf Coast shrimper. Lois loved photography, writing, and gardening, as well as being a talented baker and cake decorator. She was an avid genealogist, tirelessly documenting the family trees of her and her husband's families. She was a devout, life-long member of the Church of Christ.
Lois will be forever remembered by her son Kevin, daughters Loretta Labrada, and Diane Pine and husband Richard, grandchildren Steven Pine and wife Gena, Sara Pine, Tucker Pine, Samantha Labrada and Alexandra Labrada, and great grandchildren Holland, Hudson, Harper and Hayes Pine. Lois will be sorely missed by her sister Jenneva Phelps, and brother Pat Phelps and wife Lucy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband of 56 years Frank Lord and son Larry Lord, brothers Herman Phelps and Van Phelps, and son-in-law Fernando Labrada.
In accordance with her wishes, a simple graveside service for Lois will be held on Tuesday, April 10 at 2:30 pm, at Sweeny Cemetery in Sweeny, Texas
