Luis Martinez

Luis Zapata Martinez, 59 of Damon, Texas passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born October 16, 1955 to Joe M. and Maria (Zapata) Martinez. He loved his animals and was skilled at woodworking and being a mechanic. He enjoyed family BBQ's and being with friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Damon, Texas with Father Marty Pham officiating. Burial will follow at Damon Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a rosary being recited at 7:00pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Martinez, III, Alfred Martinez, Jr., Raymond Martinez, Jr., Johnny Joe Martinez, Jessie Ortega, Jr., and Jeremy Sosa. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Miller and William Eversole.

Luis is survived by his brothers, Joe Martinez, Jr., Alfred, Raymond and Johnny Martinez; sisters, Frances Sosa, and Mary Lou Martinez along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Martinez and sister, Elvira Martinez Sanchez.
