Lydia “Candy” Pearl Amyx, 84, of Cleveland, TX passed away on November 30, 2024. She was born on February 8, 1940 in Galveston, TX to Fred Gillis, Sr. and Beula James. Lydia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. First and foremost, she was a servant to her Lord and Savior. Lydia loved children, especially the ones who she fostered in her home.
Lydia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, John Michael Amyx, Sr. and daughter, Deborah Amyx.
She is survived by her children, John Michael Amyx, Jr., Kim Amyx McMillan (Trey) and David Amyx; grandchildren, Tabitha Johnson (Cooper), Jonathan Emmons (Holly) and Victoria Paschal (Aiden); great-grandchildren, Levi Johnson (Maegan), Ty Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Haydin Johnson, Abigail Emmons, Kassidy Emmons, Brayden Kennedy, Aurora Paschal and Hailey Paschal; brother, Fred Gillis, Jr; chosen sister, Melody Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024 at New Beginnings Baptist Church of Patton Village, 16715 Main St., Splendora, TX 77372. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Lydia will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sista’s Caring of the Heart, 208 Harding Ave., Cleveland, TX 77327.
