Marion J. Zehnle (Hester) Carlile, 92, of Sweeny, Texas passed away Tues. Jan. 16, 2018. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 4, 1925, to William and Viola Zehnle. She was a firecracker baby and loved all the celebrations.
She attended St. Anthony Catholic Grade School and Old Central High School, both in Evansville. She married Nick Hester, who was serving in the U S Army during WW II. After his discharge from the service they moved to Newgulf, Texas, where he was originally from. She lived there for 42 years, raising her family and working at Texas Gulf Sulphur as a secretary. In 1988 she married Bob Carlile and moved to Sweeny.
She was known as MEME by her grandchildren. She loved family and friends and always made sure she gave them something to eat when they visited. She loved playing bridge with her bridge club, was very good on the dance floor, and loved being a part of the Friendship club. She was an active member in the Altar Society of OLPH Church in Sweeny. Later, she became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brazoria.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Bev and brother in law, Bill Stocker; step father, Henry Riffert, grandsons, Toby Blankenburg and Ricky Jones; husband, Bob Carlile; and step sons, Steve and Dan Carlile.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children, Darlene (Dicky) Jones, Dr. William (Denise) Hester, Carolyn (Mike) Kalina, and Beverly (Mike) Fine; her grandchildren, Janette (Steve) Buster, Ann (Jake) Strother, Barbara (Brandon) Alderson, Jarett (Nicole) Hester, Cody, Colton & Colley Hester, Lynnette McKinney, Rocky Wisnieski, Ace (Leigh) Blankenburg, Michael (Jennifer) Fine, Chad (Heather) Fine, and Lance Fine; granddaughter in law, Marissa Jones; step sons, Larry (Kirsten) Carlile, John (Tracy) Carlile, Dave Carlile, Bill (Randi) Carlile; step daughters, Betty (John) Henderson and Cheryl Carlile; many great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brazoria with Father Tin Pham officiating with burial following at Sweeny Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. A Rosary will begin at 4:00 pm also at the funeral home on Sunday.
