Mattie Pearl (Jeanette) Tipps was born July 18, 1931, and passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Cisco, Texas on July 18, 1931 to the late Bertha E. (Ludwig) and William Bone.
She has spent the last few months surrounded by lots of family and friends reminiscing about the wonderful life she has had. She was overjoyed that lots of family from out of town took the time to come see her one last time. The last few weeks she made a couple more trips to Sargent to spend time with family and recall many wonderful memories.
Mattie is survived by her sons Lester Tipps, George Tipps and wife Stephanie, Roy Tipps and wife Muriel and Charles Tipps and wife Ann; Mattie was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Sonny Bone, Johnny Bone and Preston Bone; sister Wanda Holcomb and special nephew, James Tipps and his beautiful family.
Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Clarence Grant Tipps, married 56 years, her parents, William Bone and Bertha E. Ludwig, sisters, Thelma, Margaret, Betty, Blanche, Loise and granddaughter Spring Ferguson.
Mattie was a strong, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mattie and Clarence both had green thumbs, they had an exceptional garden which they shared with anyone that showed up to help plant or pick. Mattie also enjoyed having a beautiful yard with a variety of flowers and trees and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds daily.
Mattie was also a wonderful cook and when her sons were growing up, she cooked many meals for them and all their friends. She all enjoyed collecting and reading cookbooks and trying out new recipes.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, enjoyed years of fishing and spending time on the beach and on boats with her family. She spent her life raising their wonderful family and several years in the family business of commercial fishing.
A visitation with friends and loved ones will be Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at C. T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sweeny Cemetery.
