Melvin Earl Treesh, 84, of Wild Peach /Brazoria, Texas passed away Friday, November 24th at Baylor St. Lukes Hospital in Houston surrounded by his family. Melvin was born July 9th, 1939, in Wild Peach/Brazoria, Texas, just a few miles from his home to the late Edgar Dale Treesh and Erma L. Gilbert. He attended Angleton High School and then joined the Air Force (1957-1962) where he served his country proudly earning his Honorable Discharge. Afterward he settled in Angleton, Texas and began his work as a construction supervisor/heavy equipment operator. He was married to Barbara Parnell and was the father to Sherry Stanford (Bruce), Cindy Jansky (Waylon), Karen Treesh, and Kenny Treesh (Leah). He was pawpaw/pops to 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Betty Chaney, brother Robert Parish, his favorite nephew Shayne Goodrum, and his loving canine companion Mattie.
Melvin worked very hard until the age of 72. He believed in hard work and doing it right. He was a loving husband to his wife Barbara for 63 years. He was blessed with 4 daughters and a son, who he loved dearly. He loved it when the grandchildren came out to his home. They all have fond memories of him taking them on tractor rides and picking pecans. He loved his land, his animals, and his large equipment, his backhoe, and tractors. He spent a lot of his time outside working on something or riding his mule around checking fences.
Melvin was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Kay Treesh, his mother Erma L. Merrell, his father Edgar Dale Treesh, and several siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday November 30th from 5-7 p.m. and again on Friday December 1st from 9-10 a.m. at C.T. Baker Funeral Home, 634 S. Columbia Dr. West Columbia, TX 77486. His funeral service will begin on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow with full military honors at Old Columbia Cemetery, West Columbia.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Justin Stanford, Brandon Stanford, Kolby Stewart, Zack Burrell, Hunter Treesh, and Wyatt Jansky.
Honorary Pallbearers are his granddaughters: Leslie Burks, Amber Amason, Mindy Pena, Kasey Stewart, Megan Gonzales, and Kaylin Jansky.
