Michael W. Mears, affectionately known as "Thump," was born on June 20, 1989, in Galveston, Texas. He departed this world on December 25, 2024, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Michael lived a life full of passion and excitement. He was an adrenaline junkie at heart, known for his exuberant spirit and zest for adventure.
Michael had an unwavering love for race cars and was a dedicated fan of the NHRA circuit, often attending events and sharing his enthusiasm with anyone lucky enough to be by his side. Not only was he a motorsports enthusiast, but he also held the Dallas Cowboys close to his heart, embodying the spirit of a true fan. Despite these passions, nothing was more important to Michael than his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, embodying the role of a devoted husband, son, brother, and uncle.
He is survived by his wonderful wife, Jena C. Mears, who stood by him through every twist and turn of their journey together. Their bond was unbreakable, grounded in love and respect. Michael's cherished fur babies, Thor and Zeus, were also by his side, bringing joy and companionship into his life.
Michael was the beloved son of Donna and her husband Randal Aldrich, and Mike Mears and his wife Debbie. He held a special place in his heart for his Paw-Paw, Benny Hock, who was a guiding presence throughout his life. He was a supportive brother to Jessica Pate, Cory Mears and his wife Kelcee, Rory Mears and his wife Autumn, and April Carrasquillo and her husband Ben, Samantha Aldrich and Jerrel Aldrich.. His siblings shared countless memories, laughter, and love with him that will forever be cherished.
In addition to his immediate family, Michael's legacy lives on through his loving nieces and nephews: Aksel, Faith, Allee, Ellee, Henry, Sadie, Chloe, Gracie, Isabella, David, Elizabeth, and Liam. Each of them carries a piece of Michael in their hearts, as he was a fun-loving uncle who cherished every moment with his family.
Michael's memory will also be honored by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched deeply. His infectious laughter and love for life will surely be missed by all who knew him.
A visitation in celebration of Michael’s life will take place on January 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
As we say goodbye to Michael, let us remember him for his boundless energy, joyful spirit, and unwavering love for his family. The family request that all who plan on attending the services, wear either your favorite Dallas Cowboy gear or your favorite western wear.
