With great sadness, we announce the passing of Nancy Joann Kolojaco, on May 25, 2024, at the age of 71 after a lengthy illness. Nancy was born on March 2, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Joyce Inez and Vernet D. Hass. She moved around a lot as a child, living in various cities in Oklahoma, California, and Texas. She attended Columbia High School in West Columbia, Texas where she met and married her husband of 55 years, Anthony Kolojaco. She is survived by daughters Lisa Lester and husband Ray (Mickey) of Jones Creek, Texas and Julie Kolojaco and husband Troy Harris of Pearland, Texas; grandchildren, Mikayla Allgood and husband John, Ava Kolojaco-Harris and Vincent Sheive-Harris. She is also survived by her brother, Bruce Phillips and wife Peggy, sister, Lori Vess and husband Jimmy, brother, Matt Hass and wife Cheri, sister-in-law, Sylvia Kolojaco and numerous special cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Joyce Cabrerra, Vernet Hass and wife Joan; father-in-law, Tony Kolojaco; mother-in-law, Julia Redden; sisters, Kendra Phillips and Robin Guy; and brothers-in-law, Gordon Guy and William Kolojaco.
Nancy lived the majority of her life in Jones Creek, Texas. She worked as a hair stylist in Lake Jackson, Texas for over 40 years, retiring in 2006. Her work brought her lifelong friendships among colleagues and customers alike. Beyond hairstyling, Nancy excelled in various talents. She was a skilled cook, often catering special events and crafting delicious birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends. A talented seamstress, she created numerous wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, Halloween costumes, bedding, curtains, and even reupholstered furniture. She also handmade special hooded towels for new babies and crafted outfits for her daughters, granddaughters and nieces.
Nancy enjoyed deer hunting with her husband and friends, cherished cruises, and found joy in trying her luck on the slot machines at the casinos. An avid gamer, she loved playing video games, board games, dominos, and cards. Nancy was a dedicated member of a Bunco group in Jones Creek for many years. Above all, she cherished her role as Nana to her grandchildren, spending countless hours with them as they grew up. Nancy would travel extensively to help care for her grandchildren unconditionally.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Bar-X Clubhouse at 700 Bar-X Trail in Angleton, Texas from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Liver Foundation or plant a Calla Lilly in her honor at your home.
