Visitation will also be on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 12:30PM and the Rosary will begin at 12:30P at the church.
Peggy was born on December 5, 1945 in Schulenberg, Texas Fayette County to the parentage of Willie Barak and Edna Schmidt Barak and passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at her residence. Peggy grew up in West Columbia where she attended West Columbia high school along with her brother, Larry. Peggy is preceded in death by her father, Willie Barak, mother, Edna, her sister in law, Diana, and her loving brother, Larry.
St John's the Apostle Catholic Church will miss this Peggy dearly. She was known as the Pillar of the community, where she served faithfully with the Legion of Mary and as a Sacristan.
Peggy was a very avid sports fan, and her favorite team was our very own West Columbia Roughnecks where she held regular season tickets and attended every game she could. She not only favored the Roughnecks, but she followed all the Texas high school scores. Peggy also enjoyed reading the local paper from cover to cover and completing all the puzzles included in that edition. When not at church, most days she could be found sitting in the same booth, eating at her favorite restaurant, Elmos.
Her kind and gentle spirit will always be remembered in the hearts of those that loved her. Left to cherish precious memories are her niece, Deidra Mannion and husband, Brian of Katy, Texas and nephew, Larry Barak, Jr and wife, Rachel of Trinity, Texas as well as great nieces and nephew, Alexis & Cameron Mannion and Constance Barak.
Services under the direction of C. T. Baker and sons Funeral Home.
