Richard Jones, Sr.

Richard Allen Jones, Sr. unexpectedly passed away on May 1, 2016. He was born on June 20, 1977 in Wharton, TX to Sherman "Dicky" and Darlene Jones.

His family resided in Sweeny, where he lived all of his life. Ricky graduated from Sweeny HS in 1995 and went on to graduate from Texas State Technical College, with a degree in Environmental Health & Safety a specialization in Safety, in 2000. In 1999 he married his first love and high school sweetheart, Marissa Lynne Jones. They were blessed with their two boys Ricky Jones, Jr. & Tyler Ryan, and later with their beautiful niece Mackynzie Ryan. Ricky's passion was his family and coaching his kid's baseball & basketball teams. He also enjoyed serving on the Sweeny Little League Board of Directors. He dedicated his time and love to all of the kids on his teams and wanted nothing more than to see them have fun. Ricky was employed by Dow Chemical Company as a Safety Supervisor.

Ricky is survived by his loving wife of 17yrs, Marissa Lynne Jones, his son Richard Allen Jones, Jr., Tyler Ryan Jones, and his niece Mackynzie Ryan, sister Janette Buster (Steve), Ann Strother (Jake), Barbara Alderson (Brandon) Mother Darlene Jones & Father Dicky Jones.

Ricky was loved by many and remembered always.

Visitation will be held on Thursday May 5, 2016 at Baker Funeral Home, West Columbia from 5:00 pm - 7:00pm with a rosary being recited at 7:00pm.

Services will be 2:00pm at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Lake Jackson on Friday, May 6, 2016, with burial following at the Sweeny Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Kotrla, Scott Avants, Vincent Strother, Brian Douget, Nathan Kelly, Mike Heath, John Smith and Chris Coker. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Hammond.
