Robert Earl Burns Jr was born in Dallas, Texas on February 15, 1943. Bob passed away peacefully in his home in Damon Texas on December 26, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He cherished his son Robert Earl Burns III, daughter Susan Ruth Flessner, daughter-in-law Maria Christina Burns and son-in-law Michael Paul Flessner and his sister Judith Burns Fredrick. He had 5 grandchildren, Joshua Flessner, Matthew Flessner, Julia Bors and husband Jeff Bors, Zachary Flessner and wife Savanna Flessner, Grace Fleet and husband Jack Fleet . He also had two great-grandchildren, Remi and Jett Flessner. He also cherished his nieces, Michelle King, Jennifer Morrison and Ashley Fredrick.
Bob started working for Texas Electric in Fort Worth in October of 1965 as a sales representative and in 1970 was promoted to senior sales representative. From 1973 to 1981 he worked in several supervisory capacities before being named data systems service manager. In 1983 he was appointed community manager and was named the legislative service manager in 1988 and eventually became a lobbyist at the Capitol in Austin for the company. During that time, he cultivated many lifelong treasured friendships and many of them he continued to keep in contact with up until he left this earth.
Bob retired in Granbury Texas where he spent many years working on his land, snake hunting, raising goats, cows, and peacocks. He also loved taking short naps in his truck with the windows down listening to the flow of the creek that ran through his property. He eventually moved down to Damon Texas to be closer to his family and was mowing and doing tractor work, “piddling, and puttering” as he would say, just months before his death. He was the kindest man to everyone, even if he did not know you. He would always carry multiple pocket crosses and angels in his Wranglers to hand out to someone he might see in need, at grocery stores, gas stations or just anywhere he was. May God bless and keep him always.
He will be forever missed and loved immensely.
Services will be held privately at the request of the family.
