Robert Deberry

Robert Elbert DeBerry, 94 of West Columbia, Texas passed away at his home Wednesday, September 23, 2015. He was born October 17, 1920 in Van, Arkansas to Robert and Edith (Cover) DeBerry. He was a carpenter by trade and served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a chief petty officer; an aviation machinist, he volunteered for the invasion of Tarawa and received numerous commendations.

Memorial services will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia with Pastor Latonya Dailey officiating.

Robert is survived by son, David DeBerry of McHenry, IL; daughter, Diane DeBerry Woodard and husband, Jim of West Columbia; grandchildren, Elizabeth DeBerry, Amanda Woodard Galbreath and husband, Joe; and Corey Woodard along with great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kason, Madison and Gavin. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by wife, Evelyn C. DeBerry, and 2 brothers.
