Roderick Rice

Roderick Stephen Rice, 57 of Damon, Texas passed away at his home on Thursday, October 29, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born November 26, 1957 in Oakland, California to Clyde and Grace (Heintz) Rice. He served in the United States Army. He was active in annual fundraisers for Needville Fire Department "Woodrow Station", he worked for Mercury Metals in Houston and loved his work. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was dedicated to his never ending "honey do " list. He loved old movies and also to read. Enjoyed barbequing for family functions, hanging out with friends afterwork at "Krafts" and was an extension and solid part of more families than his own.

Memorial services will be held 10:00am, Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia with Pastor Robert Willis officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jacob and Jared Eversole, Chris Faulk, Joshua, Dusty and Kyle Murheid, Davey Bass, Josh Calloway, William Grace, Isaac Brown, Lance Urga, David Utley, Trey, Kenny and Michael Rice.

Roderick is survived by his wife Cheryl Rice of Damon; son, Isaac Brown and wife, Edwina of Angleton; daughters, Michele Grace and husband, Will of Danbury; Barbara Calloway and husband, Josh of Danbury and Adrianna Brown of Bay City; mother, Grace Sheffield of West Columbia; brothers, Randy Rice and wife, Diane of Odessa; Clyde Rice of Houston and David Rice and Wife, Susan of Navasota; sister, Sue Hodges of West Columbia along with 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild on the way and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Rice and step-father, Joe Sheffield.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
